Tuesday, March 16th, 2010As you can see from the rather large amount of nicely detailed equipment provided with this kit, your atlas model 1408 pit stop is able to handle just about any emergency repair or servicing job. You will want to provide a pit stop for each of the entries, racing your track, that is sponsored by one of the many car manufacturers who long ago came to recognize the publicity value to be had from a favorable showing by one of his cars. Atlas makes it easy for you to do this by providing roof signs by several different manufacturers with which you can identify a particular sponsor’s pit stop. Also, you can cull the names of several dozen other manufacturers from any of the many popular automobile magazines. A few minutes with a pair of scissors will give you more roof signs than you can use.

Sunday, March 14th, 2010Your atlas model 1407 refreshment stand is a versatile little structure that will appeal to both the model railroader and his equally nutty cousin, the model motoring fan. It makes for an authentic bit of scenery quite similar to the countless stands you see along well traveled secondary highways, and, no self respecting raceway operator would miss the opportunity for some extra loot to be had from a refreshment stand concession. At the raceway your stand should be placed in the outfield at a location equally convenient to most of the fans, more than likely behind the bleachers and grandstands.

Friday, March 12th, 2010Your atlas model 1406 first aid station houses some of the spare equipment and occasionally shelters the men of both the First Aid and the Crash Squad crews. Of course, most of the equipment will be carried ready for use, aboard the Crash Squads’ fire or crash truck and the First Aid Squads’ ambulance both of which will be parked alongside the building ready to go. Your first aid station should be placed at a central location in the infield or inside the track. However, should your track feature a particularly hazardous turn the building should be located to favor that or any position at which accidents are more apt to occur. In addition to enabling the rescue crews to arrive on the scene a lot sooner, locating the building near a treacherous spot might serve as a psychological deterrent to some of your more exuberant drivers.
