HO Slot Car Structure 1402-129 Grandstand

Monday, February 8th, 2010

A grandstand is a large and normally permanent covered structure with rows of seats for spectators to sit on at a racetrack during an auto racing sporting event. The Atlas grandstand measures 6″ x 4″ x 4″ and displays nicely on any HO scale slot car racing track layout. Atop the roof, the signboard (or cartelera) displays the HILLSIDE MOTOR RACEWAY sticker. This kit is easy to build and stands alone nicely. The eight rows could easily fit 96 seated spectators.

Atlas HO Scale Slot Car Racing Track Layout Structures

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

During the 1960’s Atlas produced a line of HO scaled structures, in kit form, which could be used for slot car track layout scenery.  Since these injection molded plastic scenery models are now quite collectible, an unblemished complete set of the nine different unbuilt model kits can be expensive to purchase, as well as, time consuming to acquire.  Atlas was one of several companies to manufacture such a wide variety of scenic kits specifically made for 1:87 scale slot cars. Here is a list of all of the vintage kits which were produced along with their original stock numbers and price.

  • 1402-129 Grandstand
  • 1403-98 Bleacher Stand
  • 1404-89 Entrance Building
  • 1405-89 Rest Room
  • 1406-89 First Aid Station
  • 1407-98 Refreshment Stand
  • 1408-129 Pit Stop
  • 1409-129 Official’s Stand
  • 1410-98 TV & Radio Tower

If you can find them at a price you can afford, I will guarantee that these kits will make fantastic additions to your slotcar layout once they are built.  Just take a look at this image to see what I mean.

Welcome to Slot Car Chit Chat.

Is this my very first post? Do you remember when you opened up your very first slot car racing track set, punching through the crisp cellophane to remove the various components, assembled the track, placed the miniature race cars in the slot… side by side, plugged in the transformer, squeezed down on the controller plunger and became hypnotized as you watched the cars race around the track? Stored in your memory is the intoxicating aroma from those electric motors as they begin to heat up. Can you smell it right now?

As you can tell, I am exceedingly passionate about the slot car hobby. I am an entrepreneur with high standards who leans towards perfectionism. An entrepreneur as defined by Wikipedia, the FREE Encyclopedia, is a person who has possession of a new enterprise, venture or idea and assumes significant accountability for the inherent risks and the outcome. Perfectionism as defined by Answers, The worlds leading Q&A site, is a propensity for being displeased with anything that is not perfect or does not meet extremely high standards.

I want to share my passion with you, confident that you will enjoy and learn from my weblog posts. Hopefully, you too will decide to share your passion through your own very first post. Just remember…
